About Nashville

Nashville is the capital city of Tennessee, TN. The city is located on the Cumberland River and is the center of the Nashville metropolitan area, which is one of the fastest growing in the nation. It has a population of around 700 000 people. 

 Nashville is a major center for the music industry, especially country music, the city  is commonly known as "Music City". It is home to three major sports team. Nashville is also home to numerous colleges and universities. 

The city is also a major center for the healthcare, publishing, banking, automotive,  technology, and transportation industries.

History

Named after Francis Nash, a general of the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War. The city was founded in 1779. 

Over time Nashville grew quickly due to its strategic location as a port on the Cumberland River and in the 19th century, a railroad center. 

Today Nashville has one of the fastest growing economies in the US.

Nashville is the hometown of country music and also has a thriving pop and rock scene. Visitors flock to the city year-round to listen to live music in the honky-tonks of Broadway and to see the famous recording studios on Music Row.
